An Apple a Day
Looking for a sweet way to start out the new year? Your JCC can participate in "An Apple a Day" High Holidays 5771 Campaign to feed those in need. From September 13-16, we're asking JCC employees and patrons to bring apples to their local JCCs. The fruit will be donated to a local food bank or other emergency food provider. Imagine how many lives we can touch by this simple act of kindness! JCC staff can visit JCC Resources for more about this campaign and Resources for a Healthy and Sustainable Rosh Hashanah, including info on apple picking, honey sources, Jewish texts, recipes and more.

Experience An Ethical Start with Your Kids
JCCs that use An Ethical Start® in their early childhood centers are starting the year 5771 with a wonderful new teaching tool—a large-size calendar featuring family activities designed to enhance what preschoolers are learning at the JCC. An Ethical Start is our values-education program based on the Jewish classical text Pirkei Avot. The calendar, meant for home use, focuses on one mishna each week and offers a variety of play, art, and conversation activities for parents to do with their children. The calendar is bright and beautiful and fun, and a great way to deepen children's Jewish understanding.
